First you have to have patients, be able to handle all different situations, and know your limits. You would need to be someone that can handle emergencies, death, bad injuries, and more. Also you need to understand we rely on donations or our own money, we DO NOT get paid to do this from DNR, the State, or anyone. Have a Big Heart!!
Contact your local rehabbers and ask questions, lots of questions. Reach out to several Licensed Rehabber and ask questions (lots of questions), make sure it is truly something you can handle and really want to do.
Once you have decided that this is something you can handle and want to do, you would work under someones license for a year if they have had theirs for 3 years or more. If they have had their license for under 3 years you have to work under them until they have had it for 3 years then your year starts.
Start collecting supplies. Then you would contact DNR for the study guide, go over the guide but the test is mainly common sense.
Take the test and get an 80% or more.
Pass the inspection from a DNR officer
Your own money, don’t count on getting donations.
Learn to fundraise or other ways to receive donations
Do NOT over do yourself (Take on more than you can handle) you will get burnt out quick if you do.
